In the affected computer, do the following: 

  • go to Start -> Run… -> type regedit, then hit Enter
  • browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls Folder\PowerCfg
  • Right click to GlobalPowerPolicy and PowerPolicies, then choose Permissions…, tick Full Control under Allow column for Power Users and Users

Note: no need to restart the PC to take effect, just log-off as administrator and try it using the users' login details. Add a comment

Go to modem/router configuration page and enable ICMP or Respond to ping on Internet WAN Port

  • using NetGear DG834g
    -> go to Advanced -> WAN Setup -> tick Respond to Ping on Internet WAN Port
  • using Netcomm NB9W
    -> go to Management -> Access Control -> Services -> tick on ICMP

Go to client's PC who is experiencing this error, then do the following:

  • Start -> Run… -> type regedit, then hit Enter
  • Delete the LICENSE000 folder from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software]Microsoft\MSLicensing\Store\
  • Restart the PC
  • Try to connect again to the Terminal Server using RDP
